When we stop waiting we feel happy.
When Simeon and Anna met Jesus
they were full of joy.
Fill us with joy too.
Amen.

Candlemas, Collect (Redub)

God of surprises,
you clothe us with love.
When Jesus was nearly seven weeks old,
Mary and Joseph lovingly
brought him to the Temple.
Anna and Simeon, having waited
decades for your arrival, were amazed.
However new that things may seem,
or however long we have waited for freedom,
bless us, too, today, with the peace of Christ.
Amen.

Candlemas Collection (Redub / Reboot)

Here are my five new Collects and Post Communions for Candlemas, The Presentation of Christ in the Temple, which is always 2nd February. In 2017 this falls on a Thursday, in 2018 on a Friday. Some places will choose to use these prayers on that day and then use prayers for the 2nd Sunday before Lent on 3rd February. Other places will use prayers for Candlemas on Sunday 3rd February.

The project runs began Advent 2012.
