patchwork quilts

Went to the recently re-opened York Art Gallery. Was surprised and stunned by their patchwork quilts exhibition: a first showing of a collection from the Castle Museum.

Also, whilst there, I was glad to see the Rembrandt, more than the Monet. They're both on loan from the National Gallery.

I thought the archway installation (30ft high, 20ft across) of several thousand dyed turkey feathers in the context of 'game' art from the 16th-18th centuries was very clever.

Some incredibly beautiful quilts are made by a couple of ladies near Scarborough. If you ask Fr Elwin nicely, he will take you to see them once you have completed your erudite/romantic time in Cambridge!
