After a summertime of rowing in a double scull there was a dearth of activity October to December due to a perpetually high river and an injured rowing partner. We made contact though over Christmas and he has bought the most testing of craft -- a rowing pair -- one blade each (last year we were in a double scull, that's two blades each). Saw it for the first time on Sunday and we put the riggers on (which hold the blades).
He said it would be good to come up with a Gaelic / Celtic name for it -- I immediately thought of 'anam cara' which means 'soul friend' and we agreed it there and then. First outing next Sunday, all being well with the river, him and me.
