Here are my five Collects and Post Communions for the First Sunday of Advent:

God, we were waiting to pray.

Now we are praying.

Please help us to pray.
We are thinking about you.

Remind us that you love us.

We are waiting for Christmas.

Collect, First Sunday of Advent (Children's Reboot)

God you are strong. You are gentle.

We think your love is like a sunrise.

Thank you that Jesus is like the brightest sun.

Help us be like little lights.

Help us shine brightly too.

Amen.

This Collect could be used as the Post Communion on any day from the Second Sunday of Advent until Christmas Eve instead of the Post Communion provided.

O God, our God, help us be patient

as we hunger for your freedom.

Keep us hoping for the joy we cannot see or feel

as we wait for this Christmas

and long for the arrival of your new creation.

While it is still night, sustain our wait for liberty,

so that, as soon as the love of Jesus dawns on us,

we will be ready to receive you. 
Help us be ready too, to bring your love to the world,

both now and forever. Amen.

we sense your sunrise coming after the dark of night.

Help us get ready for your love,

that meets us here and takes us to the new Creation,

in Jesus Christ, who loves and leads us.

Collect, First Sunday of Advent (Redub)

God of all things and all people,
 give us grace

to throw off that which diminishes 
and

put on the clothes of eternal peace instead.

May we begin this, 
now,

in the time of our earthly lives.

We would like to be like Jesus, the Christ,

who came and lived with us, plainly and simply.

When, at the last, 
Christ makes a glorious return,

with mercy and love, may we come alive,
in God, in the new creation.
