Jesus our friend,

you are Christ our servant-leader.

When your disciples saw you ascend

the loss of you leaving was mixed with

the challenge to continue your work.

This is a challenge we still face today.

Thank you that you count us as equals.

Gift us with the faith we need

to know you are by our side

as we serve you in the world.

Comfort us when you feel far from us.

Amen.
